The boom of private labels
The launch of private label wines is framed within a favorable context for this segment in the wine industry. According to data from the Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA), store brand sales in the US grew by 11.3% during 2022, almost double that of national brands.
Beverage and liquor categories were especially strong, recording increases of 19.1% and 15.6% respectively. This growth is largely driven by consumers who, in challenging economic times, opt for good quality products at more affordable prices.
Thus, some chains like Circle K follow the trend of other large retailers, such as SpartanNash, which has also just launched Finest Reserve, a new premium label under its flagship brand Our Family, incorporating artisanal pizzas, pastas, sauces, chocolates… and, of course, wines.
“Qué Bueno Está”: Exclusive brand of Navarro – CVS & Más
At Toral Wines & Spirits we are very happy to have been able to develop the brand “Que Bueno Está” in partnership with Triumph Brands and the results are being formidable.
Here is some information about the Navarro chain in Florida:
Navarro Discount Pharmacies, Inc., frequently known as Navarro, is a chain of pharmacies, photo development service, and pharmacy benefit manager in the United States. The company was acquired by CVS Health in September 2014 and operates as a separate brand and business from CVS, headquartered in Miami, Florida.
Navarro primarily operates in Miami-Dade and Broward counties and currently has 33 stores. It has a 17% market share in South Florida, surpassing Walgreens and CVS/pharmacy. The company employs more than two thousand people and generates annual sales exceeding $350 million.
Navarro leads the industry in terms of sales per store, sales per square foot, and prescriptions filled per store.
In this new era of accessible and quality wines, the new line also stands out: “Qué Bueno Está,” a wine that honors its name in every glass. Designed for those who enjoy the simple but well-made, this label offers an explosion of flavor with a fresh, balanced profile that’s easy to pair.
Ideal for casual gatherings, everyday celebrations, or simply to toast to the small great moments of life, “Qué Bueno Está” is an invitation to enjoy wine without complications, but with all the authenticity of a great wine experience.
This brand can only be found in the 33 Navarro CVS & Mas stores in Miami, Homestead, Kissimmee, Tampa, and Orlando. Additionally, the following are the varietals in this new line:
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet/Merlot, Red Blend, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio.
A new step towards expanding its private label
Circle K, the renowned global chain of convenience stores, has decided to venture into the world of wine, launching its first exclusive line in more than three thousand stores in the United States. This move seeks to capture consumers who prioritize quality and convenience, without sacrificing price.
“Our wines are specifically selected for customers who seek both quality and convenience,” highlighted Sophie Provencher, senior vice president of global merchandising at Circle K. With this new line, the company not only diversifies its adult beverage offering but also responds to the growing demand for private label products.
Sunshine Bliss and Fine Wines: two irresistible proposals
Circle K’s wine selection consists of two main lines: Sunshine Bliss and Fine Wines.
Sunshine Bliss, available in 27 states, offers seven refreshing options for less than 8 dollars, ideal for those looking for an accessible alternative without giving up flavor. Its varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio Colombard, Chardonnay, Moscato, Moscato Rosé, Sweet Peach, and Sweet Strawberry.
Fine Wines, on the other hand, is aimed at an audience that desires a more sophisticated experience. Its six exclusive premium blends, with prices ranging from 10 to 25 dollars, include options such as Fog Lane Red Blend, Brick and Cole Cabernet, Pine Crest Chardonnay, Momentary Pinot Noir, Bella Figura Pinot Grigio, and Ivy Ridge Sauvignon Blanc.
