Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristobal Toral.
Hi Cristobal, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Ecuador, I grew up in Chile, and at the age of 19, I emigrated to the United States, the country where I reside to this day. From a very young age, I played tennis, which led me to travel through various territories. I have known many cultures, and I have experienced different walks of life.
In my 14 years of experience in the wine industry, I have dedicated myself to creating and building brands from scratch with wineries, overlooking all the marketing and commercial strategy, selling, and most importantly building long-standing relationships with retailers, importers, distributors, wine clubs from Canada to Brazil with a special focus on the United States, Mexico, Central America/Caribbean and cruise ships. In this territory, I was able to sell more than 450,000 cases a year (+USD$12 million), including more than 300,000 cases in the United States alone.
In 2022, after 14 years working in the wine industry, I developed a project for which I had always been preparing: Toral Wines & Spirits. Currently, we import to the United States and export to the rest of the continent. The very first winery we started representing in Toral Wines & Spirits was Viña Casa Donoso from Chile and the results have been incredible!
Cristobal Toral has been developing brands of wine (and spirits more recently) for over 14 years. At Toral Wines & Spirits, we continuously aim to deliver the greatest, creating trending products with substantial quality.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been an incredible learning experience for our Toral Wines & Spirits Team. We started learning from small independent retailers and then continued moving to bigger retailers across the whole continent from Canada to Brazil. Although we continue servicing small independent retailers our ultimate challenge is to position our wines in as many family tables in the US and the rest of the continent.
In addition, the US is an incredibly huge market and it is very easy to get caught in small details that don’t add value to the final product. The biggest challenges and also opportunities we have encountered are the changing trends in the industry.
The wine industry has moved in cycles from dry wines to sweeter wines, from standard 750ml to cans, etc. What we have learned is that trends repeat in the different countries in which we compete. Also, flexibility and understanding what the final customer is looking for make the difference in this super competitive market.

Toral Wines & Spirits is a US importer and exporter located in Miami Brickell, FL, with partners and producers around the world. Our main goal is to distribute to Canada, the US, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America.
