Who do you think will have a great season? In this new year, the alcohol industry will aim to respond to inflation and generational changes. In addition, it is very likely that distributors will continue to adopt the technology to drive sales.
Here is a list of the 5 liquors that will be a trend during 2023 in the United States:
1.- Bottles of sparkling wine, but at a lower price: There is such a wide variety of sparkling wines on the market that we can find them with a greater range of prices in the market; however, it is important to note that today they have become an accessible product for anyone.
Of those surveyed, 23% still prefer to buy a bottle of champagne, maintaining it as a leading product in the industry. After this, it is followed by the prosecco sparkling wine and the rosé sparkling wine with 19%. As for retailers, 59% of them have preferred to offer their customers sparkling wines at a lower cost, since it projects them to sell more.
2.- Ready-to-drink cocktails… Not just a summer sensation: These are products that have not been in the industry for a long time, but in recent years they have positioned themselves as one of the favorites of the new generations.
Of 100% of respondents, 47% of them indicate that they will consume this type of product throughout 2023, which makes it a product suitable for all seasons of the year, regardless of the weather.
3.- Wine consumers want more information on the label: Currently, the end customer is more demanding and has less time to make his choice. For this reason, more relevant information has recently been highlighted on the front label of the products.
Regarding those surveyed, 23% seek clearer tasting notes, 21% prefer low-calorie options, 16% choose organic products and 12% want more transparency in the ingredients.
4.- Buyers seek more promotions to combat inflation: Due to the rising cost of living, people are looking for options that fit their pocket. For example, in Florida, “buy one get one free” (BOGO) promotions are very common.
34% of the people surveyed enroll in a loyalty program to access a greater number of offers, while 38% of retailers, during 2022, began to offer a greater number of promotions and loyalty programs, which is projected as a trend for 2023.
5.- Convenient formats: These are preferred by many because of the comfort they offer when consuming. The industry has studied the behavior of consumers and has created products that bring the new generations closer to the consumption of other types of spirits.
Of those surveyed, the preferred convenient formats that dominate the liquor market are non-alcoholic with 10%, 36% ready-to-drink cocktails, and 21% canned wines.
